1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Salty BC ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Salty BC is a free web application that provides British Columbia recreational fishing regulation information, tide predictions, weather forecasts, marine area maps, and related tools. The App allows users to create accounts, save favourite regulations and map locations, and view regulatory and environmental data.

3. Not Legal or Safety Advice

The information provided by Salty BC is for general reference purposes only. While we strive to keep regulation data accurate and up to date, Salty BC is not an official source of fishing regulations. Always verify current regulations directly with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) before fishing. Regulation data may be outdated, incomplete, or contain errors.

Weather forecasts, tide predictions, marine area boundaries, and ocean depth data are provided by third-party sources and may not be fully accurate. Do not rely on Salty BC for marine safety decisions. Always check official sources and exercise appropriate caution when on the water.

4. User Accounts

You may create an account using Google, Facebook, or email magic link authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You may delete your account and associated data at any time through the App.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of fishing regulations.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the App's systems or other users' data.
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute the App's content or data in bulk without permission.
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or infrastructure.

6. Intellectual Property

The Salty BC application, its design, code, and original content are the property of Salty BC. Fishing regulation data originates from Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Tide data is sourced from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. Weather data is sourced from Environment and Climate Change Canada. Map data is provided by OpenStreetMap contributors. These third-party data sources remain the property of their respective owners.

7. Limitation of Liability

Salty BC is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Salty BC and its operators shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:

• Inaccurate, outdated, or missing regulation information.
• Incorrect tide predictions, weather forecasts, or marine data.
• Fines, penalties, or legal consequences resulting from reliance on the App's information.
• Loss of data, account access, or saved favourites.
• Any injury, loss, or damage incurred while fishing or on the water.

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including Supabase, Google, Facebook, and various Canadian government data sources. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. Salty BC is not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party services.

9. Availability

We do not guarantee that the App will be available at all times. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
